A Sail, 2026
Participatory installation, patchwork of fabric fragments

Patricia Jacomella Bonola (Switzerland), A Sail, 2026. Participatory installation, patchwork of fabric fragments.
A sail must withstand the force of wind and weather. For this reason, the artist uses it as a metaphor for resistance, a resilience without prevalence and predominance. The strength highlighted is not solitary, but rather a robustness in sharing and empathy. The sail the artist presents in the exhibition is a patchwork of fragments sent and collected from various parts of the world in the run-up to the Biennale. This participatory work is open and, for the duration of the exhibition, invites all visitors to expand the sail, leaving other fragments or creating new ones on site in a shared laboratory.
